B-12 Flora

To shine out like shook foil...

--Gerard Manley Hopkins

B-12 Flora

Down from a cloud-high sky
Thy verdured molecules fly,
Microscopic floral glens
Mirroring the way gold-brindled leaves
Stair-step downward in a cooling autumn light--
Dance step,
Flip,
Dance step,
Fall,
And then a sliding wind nudges over…

In cyanobic hordes they come,
Sailing unseen within our changed dome,
Sallying down into the greened new grasses,
Into the brown cracks of rocks;
To die there,
Curled crusted remembrances

--And curses too--

E-nouncing Thy ancient grievances
Concerning Thy pure first law.

--Dumas fils
